Perfect Match

Meet Jim and Bonny. Kay's standing beside Jim, Jenny's beside Bonny; the poets' hair matching the horses' manes and colouring.

The horses chose. Bonny quietly, elegantly, sweetly, selecting Jenny and Jim settling in a plodding, prosaic matter-of-fact manner, for Kay.

Jim was a LOR star (well ... extra). He was a stand-in for Gandalf's grey horse and apparently if you look closely enough, can be spotted at times in the movie.

Bonny had a tough upbringing before she was lovingly rescued and restored to her present state of glowing good health by her present owner.

These beautiful horses are now J and K Rolling's mascots for their Outrider Poetry tours.

The first of which is coming up on August 28th, 2015, New Zealand's National Poetry Day when Jenny and Kay and guest, Dunedin poet Richard Reeve, are scheduled to read at '8 on 87' in Outram, a small town situated on the outskirts of Dunedin city.

They do not entirely rule out turning up on horseback.

'Through Rain and Wind and Weather'

(Words in the title for this post come from the song, 'Rawhide'. Just for fun, Jenny and I have decided that for now, this song is our theme tune).

Recently we had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of the loveliest two clydesdale horses one could ever hope to meet.

We stood beside them and got some promotional photos taken for our up-coming Outrider Poetry Tours. Such patient souls. Gentle giants.

Their forbearance was to be admired. They put up with us and our whims with grace and dignity.

We loved every minute we spent with our new friends. I hope we can find some excuse to stand beside these two beautiful animals again sometime soon.

Hmmm... let's see. JnK Rolling Outriders Poetry Cavalcade?
